The first card I drew when I started doing daily card drawings (to work with and try to get more familiar with the cards, and to visualize/meditate with the spirits)
I drew Oshun.
Here are my thoughts--unedited from my journal.
Aesthetically, I love the card...it's beautiful.
She's beautiful, gazing with longing, frank, unabashed.
No girlish hiding behind the fan, but almost daring you
to come over. It's flirtatious, but bold. All woman.
Peacock represents sexual attraction, pride in one's
appearance, beauty. This feels like it's at a party or a dance
that I would want to be at.
Sallie says in Vodou Visions:
She flirts in the surface of the mirror, but if you entice her to respond
to you, her powerful waters come flowing from deep within."
The night I drew it, there were watery emotions all around me, so it
seemed to work out quite literally. I prayed to her
to find ways to deepen connections, and to deepen my relevance
to others. I asked to be an inspiration to others, and to find it myself.

Tue, February 19, 2008 - 8:42 AMwell....she comes in many paths...but from the sounds of it..her ways never change...ochun is like an Ezile freda..shes also like a Anaisa pye...in palo..shes mama chola...in santeria shes ochun..or oshun...her name may change but her ways.......stay the same..in spirit or saint form...she holds many riches of life..when theres been hurt and lost of love ..shes there to give it...alot of people confuse this spirit..or better stated saint...she can fill your life with love and give u everything....but u must walk right in life and walk right with her..cuz she can give and she can take away .........this spirit is also feared when shes up-set..she protects her children very much so...she full of love and laughter and joy.....but never make her cry...oshun is a beautifull thing...to know her..is to love her...and if by any chance..this card came out to u..shes ether letting u know on lose's to come..or something to be gained..something in ur life ur missing..that no matter what u do..u still feel lonely in side..maybe shes trying to tell u something about a family member...or a friend...but if shes coming out ..over and over for u...her point hasnt been made yet.. -
