I just purchased this deck. Has anyone done the rituals listed in the back? How safe is it to draw a veve without having been properly introduced to the loa? Any thoughts or suggestions on getting started would be much appreciated

I have not done the exact rituals, that i recall (it's been a while since I got the book)....but I HAVE drawn a few veve's....I find them so very beautiful and meaningful.
For me, the KEY is to have respect for the Loa as I draw the veve. The reason I draw them is kind of a personal ritual, to draw their energy into my life. I also lay offerings on the drawings or hang them above my altar. So far, the Loas that I have invoked have treated me kindly. I think they know I love them.... -

As i was reading your post it occurred to me that the energy you put in is the energy you receive ...so if I approach the drawing of a veve with fear and anxiousness, i will conjure up the same energy. I guess I still have a fear of the unknown. I'll create some space and ritual and ease in to the drawing of veve -- thanks -
